David Marom Achieves The American Dream in New York

The national ethos of the United States is “the American dream” — the idea that everybody has the opportunity for upward mobility and the freedom to prosper and succeed. It takes a huge amount of work to get there, but it is possible. David Marom, founder of The Horizon Group in New York, is one of many who set out on the path to achieving the American dream, but it wasn’t an easy journey for him.

The American Dream

The American dream has been discussed for centuries, with references to the freedom and equality of the American people included in the U.S. Constitution. In the early 1930s, James Truslow Adams expanded on this by saying, “Life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.”

In other words, those who live in the U.S. have the opportunity to succeed if they work hard enough. When this concept was first introduced, there was no social mobility in Europe; people were stuck in whatever social class they were born into. While this has changed over the last few decades, it’s still a problem in many countries.

In the American dream, upward mobility between social classes is possible. An immigrant who arrives in the U.S. today has just as much chance of succeeding and becoming a millionaire, if not a billionaire, as those before them.

The Trip to Achieve the American Dream

David Marom shares his journey to achieve the American dream

The U.S. has over 50 million immigrants, which is 15.4% of the country’s population and more than any other country on the planet. Why? Because people just like David Marom move to the U.S. in pursuit of the American dream.

Many immigrants came here because they were tired of their lives in their home countries. Many found themselves in dead-end jobs, living in unequal systems, or dealing with unfair or unstable politics. They wanted better lives for themselves and their families.

Chasing the American dream isn’t easy; it means years of hard work and dedication. But those who complete the journey can achieve success and wealth that they couldn’t achieve in their home countries. They can provide for their families in ways they never could have provided for them “back home” — and, like David Marom, they may eventually become leaders of their communities.

David Marom and His Journey to the American Dream

David Marom is the founder of The Horizon Group, a real estate company based in New York. Marom believes in the American dream because he achieved it. In a recent interview, when pressed to give a statement about what he believes but nobody else agrees on, he simply said, “the American dream is attainable. I’m so grateful for the opportunities this country has given me.”

David Marom moved to the U.S. from Israel in his 20s with very little other than a passion to succeed in the most prosperous country in the world. When he arrived, he met the woman who would become his wife and eventually her father. David developed a passion for real estate development by learning from his future father-in-law and also took classes at NYU.

Marom’s early years in the U.S. were the epitome of following the American dream. He discovered a passion for something and pursued it, and he had complete freedom to do so. He interacted with other developers who had achieved their dreams, and he personally sought out further education. Although there were no barriers in his way, he had to be committed and work incredibly hard. He had to have that drive to succeed.

Even though Marom now owns a successful real estate company with offices in New York City and Miami, he’s still chasing the American dream. He still works hard to be successful and hopes he can pass the fruits of his labor to his family members, many of whom work in The Horizon Group so that they can achieve the American dream themselves.

When Marom isn’t working, he’s giving back to the community. Many charities benefit from his success, including Pawsability Dog Club, a non-profit he founded that helps autistic adults enter the working world in a safe and comfortable environment.

The American Dream Is Attainable

While there are many American dream detractors, people like David Marom have proved that it’s very real. For people willing to work hard and put in the effort, including new immigrants, success is attainable in the United States. People really are achieving the American dream every day.
